Dr. Richard Perrier is the Manager of the Research and Development Department for Petro-Canada Lubricants, a Suncor Energy business based in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada. 

Richard graduated with an honours bachelor of science degree majoring in chemistry from Lakehead University in Thunder Bay, Ontario in 1984.  He then went on to receive a doctoral degree in chemistry from McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario in 1990.

Richard began working for Petro-Canada in 1989 as a research chemist.  During his 23 year career with Petro-Canada, he has held numerous positions within the organizations such as Quality Assurance Coordinator in their blending facility, Sales Account Executive responsible for the sales of Group II and III Baseoils, Marketing Manager for automotive lubricants, and Business Liaison for Petro-Canada’s pharmaceutical grade white oil business.

I have been working for  Hatch for approx. 11 years as Business Commercial Director for various groups including Consulting, Iron and Steel and Infrastructure Groups.  I have been a member of the Chartered Accountants of Ontario, since 1982.

Before joining Hatch I held senior positions at Hoogovens Engineering in Burlington ( Hoogovens is a Dutch International Iron and Steel Producer), and Danieli Corus an Engineering Company servicing Iron and Steel Producers.

Paul Kolisnyk, P.Eng. has a BASc. In Metallurgy with experience at Teck and the former Cominco in production development (Trail, BC), Technical Services & Metal Sales (Toronto) and at Teck’s Product Technology Centre in Sheridan Park.  Our group specializes in delivering top notch technical support for Teck's refined metal customers; developing and executing market focused R&D projects; and commercializing technologies that have been developed as a result of PTC initiatives.   Successful examples include PTC's programs in high speed plate electrode manufacturing for lead-acid batteries, galvanizing alloys and bath management technologies.  Some of these activities have been spun-out of Teck to better enable the growth of such businesses.  Other successful early stage R&D activities initiated at PTC include rapid charging algorithms for lead acid batteries, advancements in submerged bearing hardware for continuous galvanizing operations and anode developments for zinc-air fuel cells.

Dr. V.I. Lakshmanan is an internationally renowned teacher, scientist and innovator in the area of sustainable development. He has more than 40 years of hands-on experience in technology commercialization and skills development initiatives with both private and public sectors including the United Nations. He has successfully guided process technologies from concept through development and demonstration to commercialization for resource, energy and chemical industries. He has liberally shared his knowledge and experience through seminars, conferences and professional development courses. His industry insight has enabled him to identify both opportunities and talent and bring them together.

Born and educated in India, Dr. Lakshmanan moved to Canada in 1974 after serving as Lecturer in University of Birmingham, UK. His corporate experience includes roles in Noranda, Eldorado Nuclear, ORTECH Corporation and Process Research ORTECH, the last of which he founded and guided to become a global leader in sustainable process technologies through its laboratory and pilot plant. He has extensive client contacts and relationships at senior levels with major international corporations, as well as academic and government sectors globally.

Dr. Lakshmanan is a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Engineering and an Adjunct Professor at the Department of Metallurgy and Materials Science with the University of Toronto, as well as a member of several private and public sector advisory committees on natural resources, recycling technologies and waste management. He is an active mentor of new entrepreneurs and a board member of the Canada India Foundation.

Tim Stauffer, CET has been with Shaw since 2000, leading the Satellite engineering department and technical support teams for the satellite business divisions of Shaw Direct, Shaw Broadcast, Shaw Tracking and Shaw Communications.  Tim started his career in the telecommunication industry in the early 1980's.  He established his own consulting firm in 1990, providing engineering and design services to Radio, Television and Satellite broadcasters across Canada.

Jennifer Bergsma has been with Vale Canada Limited since 1996.  She is the project coordinator for the facility and oversees work and/or projects that are done to enhance and maintain the building. 

Jennifer started working in accounts payable and then took additional purchasing courses to excel in her job.  She now manages the contracts that keep the building running efficiently and effectively.

Mike is the Manager of the Technical Operations group here at XRCC. In this role he manages several groups responsible for various aspects of the technical and physical operations of the research centre. This encompasses a number of diverse operations and infrastructure support responsibilities. The main groups comprises of:

Facilities:  the physical operations of the XRCC complex (heating, ventilation, renovations, telecommunications, fire protection, landscaping, housekeeping etc..)

Model Shop:  the model making/machine shop resource, where mechanical design and fabrication expertise is available to support the centre's research initiatives.

Network & Systems:  wide scale support of the centre's network, computers, printers and related systems infrastructure.

Pilot Plant Electrical & Instrumentation:  specialized process control/data acqusition, electrical and instrumentation support for the Pilot Plant scale-up operation
